How to Dry Towels Faster: 6 Simple Tips
Towels are thick and heavy, so they're often the slowest thing in the dryer. These six simple tips can help them dry faster and save energy along the way.
1. Don't overload the dryer
Towels need room to tumble. A packed drum traps moisture and slows everything down, so dry a smaller load if you need to.
2. Shake out wet towels first
Towels often come out of the washer twisted into knots. Shake each one out before it goes in so hot air can reach every fold.
3. Clean the lint filter every load
A clogged filter restricts airflow. Clean it before each load, and check your dryer vent from time to time as well.
4. Dry towels with similar items
Heavy towels take much longer than light clothes. Drying them with other towels or bedding helps everything finish at the same time.
5. Add wool dryer balls
Wool dryer balls bounce between towels, keeping them apart and improving airflow. Our wool dryer balls can cut drying time by up to 25%, and towels and bedding tend to show the biggest difference. Use all 6 for a large towel load. Results vary by dryer and load size.
6. Skip the dryer sheets
Dryer sheets leave a coating on fabrics that can make towels feel less absorbent over time. Wool dryer balls soften without adding anything to your laundry. See the full comparison in Wool Dryer Balls vs Dryer Sheets.
